Does Pornography Harm America?

The Internet explosion has brought the previously underground world of pornography directly to the homes and desktops of thousands of Americans. In fact, porn now grosses an estimated $15 billion annually in the U.S. alone. While some see pornography's popularity as a sign of America's profound moral decay, others believe pornography is harmless -- and even beneficial or educational. Is pornography dirty entertainment or good clean fun?

    Agreed

While I don't think it would help to try and have the government intervene and monitor every website on the planet, I do feel that much if not all porn in existence gives a false representation of what women and people in general are.

And Miss Hartley, socialism is DEAD.

    Are you serious?

I quote from the Shelley Lubben website:

"To add to the mind-numbing process, women are never able to experience sexual pleasure because of the continuous cutting during sex scenes. In the background the director constantly yells, "cut" and the flow of action is interrupted in order to get a better shot, adjust lighting or to wipe up bodily fluids. Repeatedly pornographers stop scenes and ask actors to "freeze" in position during very hardcore sex acts, which causes great physical and emotional pain for porn actresses."

Ask a sweatshop worker making 30 cents an hour whether they would be willing to endure this kind of punishment for hundreds of thousands of dollars. Are we seriously discussing this issue, or are people like Lubben making ridiculous claims to sell their books? Porn actresses aren't slaves; they put up with abuse because they get paid to do so. This is a free country. End of discussion.

Pornography degrades human beings not just woman!

I disagree with you and so do alot of others.

David Kuplians book, THE MARKETING OF EVIL, states:
quote:Page 129 para 3. Studies reveal that acts of sexual violence are commonly linked to pornography and the numbers of victims are massive.........They are calling it a sexual holocaust.

Arthur Gary Bishop killed/raped 5 boys. A Utah serial killer of young boys.. He said of his crimes, "With great sadness and remorse, I realize that I allowed myself to be misled by Satan. Pornography was not the only negative influence in my life, but its effect on me was devastating. I am a homosexual pedophile convicted of murder , and pornography was a determining factor in my downfall."
