"Being Fluid" Can Greatly Enhance Function and Structure

Wow! I was really surprised to hear from a Physical Therapist that stiff is better than flexible. How can a tissue heal properly if it is stiff or dense? Isn't movement a necessary component of lymphatic flow, which helps rid tissues of old cellular debris, an integral part of healing? Isn't that why the medical profession uses soft casts for injuries these days vs. the hard casts of the past that prevented movement all together? I am wondering if Shirley, or anyone for that matter, feels better when their body is stiff vs. when it is in a more fluid, relaxed and easeful state?

I was under the impression, with research I've seen through my studies, that since we're mostly made up of connective tissue-which contains MOSTLY water, fluidity is key for the vitality of "our functioning parts."

I am wondering if Shirley has heard of Continuum Movement? It is a self-taught movement practice that was founded by Emile Conrad. Through subtle movement, breath, focused attention and sound, Emile has been able to help facilitate healings beyond our current medical understanding. (She has been able to help people with polio, as one of many amazing examples, documented by  Valerie Hunt, Professor Emeritus, Department of Physiological Sciences, UCLA).
