You have probably heard the expression, "Spare the rod, spoil the child." Do you agree with it? Perhaps you were spanked as a kid. Was it appropriate? Some people see spanking as an outdated method of punishment or even child abuse, while others view a swat on the bottom as a parent's prerogative. Where do we draw the line when it comes to disciplining our children?

So… if laws are passed to enforce the rights of children, we’ll become communists?
This is laughably paranoid.
Even the most law-averse libertarians seem to think that certain physical rights should be protected. They’re big on property and ownership, for example. So maybe the question is: are children people, who have rights? Or are they owned by their parents - and therefore the rights of the parents to beat them should be protected?
Libertarian hero Ron Paul says that “legitimate use of violence can only be that which is required in self-defense,” and “Setting a good example is a far better way to spread ideals than through force...”
There are many laws already on the books about hitting children. And there are bureaucracies that are intended to enforce those laws. You know, crazy left-winger types like the police department. I guess I just never realized that they were commies. Should we do away with the police force?
