The fat police have tried to frighten us for so long they've used up most of their stock of scary images. Yet the media still run with every 'The Fat End is Nigh' story, no matter how absurd.     Yes, article does good job exposing these myths!

    If you listen to the media, most of us are overweight, and it will kill us all. The sensationalizing of the alleged "obesity epidemic" is mostly to sell papers, and take our minds off more serious matters. Fat people are being demonized as single-handedly being responsible for the high cost of health care, and those who determine public policy on the matter are throwing science out the window. Basically, many researchers and legislators don't like the appearance of fat people, and they also wrongly assume that all of us are gluttons.

    Authors Basham and Luik have done a good job at debunking some of the myths, but of course, it is like squirting a garden hose into the wind these days. My thanks to them!
