What is a hate crime? How can you tell?
If a cross-dressing man gets assaulted at a bar on Saturday night, and your teenage daugther gets assaulted the same way while shopping downtown. Which assailant deserves the harsher penalty?
It's the CRIME that should determine the punishment, not some supposed reason that the perpetrator did it. How do you prove that anyway?
