Since the November passage of Prop 8 -- which bans homosexual couples from getting legally married in the state of California -- many gay rights activists have said the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was largely responsible for the controversial proposition's success.     California residents, only a small minority of whom were Mormons, voted to eliminate gay marriage. While a significant minority might not have had the vote go "their way," they have the option of revisiting this issue in future elections rather than employing the tactics they have been using. Finally, it shouldn't surprise anyone that Mormons would support traditional marriage. They are known for being a family-centered church. Their members based their political participation in this last election on the basis of their foundational beliefs. That is what we all do.
