    So ....

Reason is endorsing false advertising? Good to know.

Oh, I guess Reason need false advertising because they certainly aren't reasonable.

Is it necessary to go after Cheerios? No, but if you let them get away with false advertising what is to stop another industry from doing the same and then pointing out the hypocrisy of not enforcing it against other industries? Should a homeopathic remedy which does nothing because it's water be allowed to advertise that it cures cancer 80% of the time - and then the person takes that instead of seeking legitimate medical treatment and dies ? Of course that shouldn't be allowed, and while that isn't even comparable in severity to the Cheerios case - you can't pick and choose which regulations to enforce.

You set a dangerous precedent if you pick and choose when you are going to enforce the law against someone.

Oh, and stop swiping at the medical establishment with the "unwilling children " garbage. Considering that if a child is old enough, they can override their parents wishes. Clinical trials among children are almost never done as the first step, they are always tested in older individuals and the safety is firmly established in animal and older human testing before even considering a child clinical trial. Furthermore, child clinical trials are only performed on drugs where it is needed for the child to properly survive or live in a functioning society . You owe the medical community an apology for your hatred of medical science which has saved millions of lives - just this year.

Also, Cass Sunstein's controversial remarks are artificial and false if you've read a shred of his work. And libertarian paternalism is used all the time to curb negative behavior - because many people when they screw up don't do just harm to themselves, they harm the rest of us on the whole.
