Are you sure?
Are you sure that this isn't just because larger breasts make it harder to detect early-stage breast cancer with a mammogram?
Exercise changes more than just body weight--if it changes body weight at all (some people just get bigger appetites and eat more). It also helps overall health, which may have a more direct effect on cancer risk than just losing weight.
We also know that body size has an effect on hormones and on fertility. And what's changing at menopause? Right... hormones. For very thin women who already have irregular cycles, there won't be as much change as there would be for women who are average or more--that is, women whose bodies have stored up energy in preparation for having a baby. A chance of breast cancer may be the price to pay for fertility...
