    i would think

    kids are rebelling more because it's such a political correct pervasive additude. the idea that kids are always right is blasted on the television all day long. even if your kids aren't watching it, your neighbors kids are. i would suggest instructing your kids on being better than the average fool, and explaining to the them, that is the case. understanding the situation is complicated, and almost futile. There's that internal constant pull that will your kids to question your fallible authority. It you make one mistake, what are consequences? it's very easy for kids to run with the pack. I would suggest instruction on the nature of the pack. As a parent, you really have to prove a superior position. you can't enforce it for the sake of tradition.
