    False

Uh, every metanalysis has shown that balanced meat eaters actually have a slight advantage over vegetarians in terms of long run health and both are significantly better off than vegans . Meat eaters perform substantially better than vegetarians if they periodically consume fish.

But wait, what about all those studies that show vegetarians are healthy and at less risks for cancers and diabetes ???

Well, consider this. Vegetarians tend to be healthy people by nature. They hardily ever smoke; they exercise ; and they usually aren't overweight. This isn't because they are vegetarians, this is because vegetarians are often much more health conscious just by nature. Comparatively, the meat-eating population they do not share this same regard for health. That's why you see that.

However, if you dig into the studies, as other researchers have, and throw out the irresponsible meat eaters who smoke, don't exercise, and are overweight - magically, the meat-eaters do just as well or slightly better than the vegetarians, will periodic fish eaters laughing at the vegetarians.

So, no - vegetarian diets are not healthier. That is a lie.

Also, Benjamin Spock is a quack who's ideas are fully discredited and he makes his claims without appreciating the self-selection process of vegetarians I outlined above - making him wrong, again.

About dioxins, that's a load of garbage. That is political nonsense spouted by the EPA. The Institute of Medicine of the National Academies study did not say it caused cancer when taking at the level of foods. They were asked how to reduce dioxin levels in the population - they did not render judgment on whether they did or did not cause cancer. The fact of the matter is, more and more evidence is demonstrating the levels of dioxins in foods are not nearly enough to be toxic. It's industrial plants that are the concern that cause elevated risks of cancers - and even this requires substantial exposure.

Yeah, provide more vegetables at schools because a balanced diet is the best diet hands down according to medical research. Healthier diets help kids - I'm for that, obviously.

However, PETA , stop lying to advance your position. You think people are going to go along with your plans when you lie and deliberately mislead people about medical research ?

      Well said.

I agree that an imbalanced diet is not healthy. I also agree that well-fed kids do better in their studies.

I further agree that PETA lies too often to be relied upon as a credible source.

      True

I've read a few things that disagree with your point of view. The American Dietetic Association says quote
"It is the position of the American Dietetic Association that appropriately planned vegetarian diets, including total vegetarian or vegan diets, are healthful, nutritionally adequate and may provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases. Well-planned vegetarian diets are appropriate for individuals during all stages of the life-cycle including pregnancy , lactation, infancy, childhood and adolescence and for athletes.".

Some of the diseases reffered to include "heart disease, cancer , obesity and diabetes ."

This would seem to go against your assertion that "vegetarian diets are not healthier. That is a lie.". However I'm interested in reading the studies you suggested. Could you provide some links or sources?

With that schools should serve vegan food because killing animals for food is cruel, selfish and immoral.

In the words of Jeremy Bentham "the question is not can they reason, nor can they talk but can they suffer."
