    Economic Stress Makes It Even Harder

    I recently read an article that pointed out that in the 1950's, most families were financially supported by the husband, and the wife stayed home. In today's economy , two working parents is often necessary just to make ends meet, which makes finding a "balance" in the household even harder.

    When both parents come home exhausted, physically and emotionally, form a hard day at work, the easy thing to do is be permissive and avoid confrontation. This can result in a vicious circle... kids in permissive environments being more difficult, parents needing a break giving in...
