There is no reason to permanently cripple people over theft.

Maybe /then/ you will be qualified to answer as to what the punishment should entail.
Otherwise, you are just philosophizing. In the contest between your abstract ideal vs. my visceral actuality, I think mine is more centered in reality.

You are basing your decision on your emotional desire for revenge… which is not ‘centered in reality’ but rather poisoned by your desires.
