    Career men make bad husbands.

Men driven to succeed in their career have little time for either their wife or children and make bad husbands.

      Bingo, Mike.

I notice this phrase from the OP:

"The gist of the article was that men are unhappier in marriages in which the women earn more than $30,000 a year, as opposed to marriages in which the women work less."

Seems to me the message of the original Forbes article was that MEN are unhappier with their career-minded wives, not that the women are unhappier, as the OP attempts to twist the message.

I'd say that to make a happy marriage , BOTH partners must contribute their share in whatever manner works best for them as individuals and a couple. Following a Ward-and-June-Cleaver model does not guarantee wedded bliss. If it works for Ms. Venker, then good for her. She should get back to it and stop trying to tell others how to live their lives.
