Up here in Canada, our gun laws are somewhat stricter than they are in the US. (Thank God) we don't have a 2nd amendment that gives every Tom, Dick and Harriet the right to pack heat. Now having said that, I'm fully expecting a backlash from you NRA types, but consider this: You need a licence to drive a vehicle, you need a licence to own and operate a business and you need a licence to have a dog. That way, the cops can prevent reckless driving , unscrupulous business practices and savage dog attacks. Guns can kill people, indeed, that is what they are designed to do. So yes, if you are buying one, you should at least have to show ID and preferably be free of a criminal record.
