Planned Parenthood says it will investigate an incident at one of its offices in Alabama, where a young woman posing as a 14-year-old girl claimed to be pregnant and have a 31-year-old boyfriend, which would be statutory rape.
State
law says such sex abuse must be reported, but the Planned Parenthood worker was caught on undercover videotape saying she can "bend the rules." Planned Parenthood issued this statement in response:
"Planned Parenthood of Alabama provides high quality health care and takes any allegation of this nature very seriously. An essential part of our mission is to protect teens, and to make sure that they get the counseling and medical care they need. We will conduct an internal, fact-based review to ensure that all our high standards of care have been met. Planned Parenthood of Alabama is committed to following all laws, and regularly makes reports to law enforcement officials. The health and safety of our patients is our top priority and we know that parents trust their teens to get accurate information and quality care at Planned Parenthood health centers. We will continue to work exceptionally hard to maintain that trust.”
