Aaron Siebers will never be called one of the great minds of our time. The 29-year-old clerk at a Blockbuster Video store in Edgewater, Colorado didn't feel like going to work Monday. But instead of just calling in sick like a normal person, Siebers came up with the bright idea of stabbing himself in the leg and slashing his face.

The Denver Post reports Siebers shows up at the store dripping in blood, with a story about how three Hispanic men attacked and robbed him outside of a nearby Target store.

While Siebers was rushed to the hospital to get stitches on his leg wound and treatment for his minor face slashes, police launched an all out manhunt for the fictional attackers. But when they looked at the Target's video surveillance tapes, and saw no evidence of any attack, police came back to Siebers.

After questioning, Siebers reportedly admitted he made it all up, stabbing himself because he didn't want to go to work.

The website The Smoking Gun is reporting that Siebers tore his Blockbuster uniform while skateboarding, and not wanting to get in trouble, concocted the story and turned a knife on himself.

Siebers was arrested and charged with filing a false report and obstructing police.
