Is There a God?

Is There a God?

The existence - or lack of - a God is one of humanity's fundamental questions. Since the first birth, the first sunrise, the first death, humans have sought to explain the world around them. The whole of human existence, in the end, comes down to this: Is there a God?

What are the Actual Implications of God's Existence?

Rabbi Jeret

What are the implications of the existence of God?  This is an important question for those who seek to determine the effect of God upon a world in any lasting or ongoing manner.  However, such consideration is not ours in this debate, seeing as one can postulate that a God either once existed and no longer exists (and thereby has no effect upon the world today) or that a God continues to exist, long after the initial creation of matter, but, has determined not to intervene in the world's affairs (and thereby has no lasting or ongoing effect upon the world).  It is important to remember that the question of God's intention (if God has such) in creating the world in the first place is a religious question, primarily, if not entirely.  Our consideration does not question religion, per se, and, therefore, our lacking in understanding God's intentions has no bearing whatsoever upon God's past, present, or future existence.

In short, then, there may be no implications, some implications, or other implications of God's existence.  However, only those intent on considering the virtues of religion, as opposed to the matter of the existence of a Creator, would debate the matter.  As such, this question ought remain for another debate.
