The Question of Nuclear Iran

Back to the topic, we can now relate the question of nuclear Iran. As I have said, the question and the solution are not the "nuclear," even not "Iran," but the regime and its intentions. One has to bear in mind that Iranian nuclear program has started in the 1960's – with the assistance of the US, France and Israel. What is the difference today? It is clear: the regime!

The solution is than clear – to topple down the regime, since sanctions, it has been proven time and again, are not a guarantee to a satisfying political arrangements and are not effective. However, as I have said before: who will decide? Is there any consensus to determine the policies needed and legitimacy to execute it? Is the decision valid to any pariah state that emerges? What are the pre-conditions that states act to preserve the order? These are not philosophical-theoretical-hypothetical questions, but very realistic. However, they should not lead us to despair and to feebleness, but to the very set of acute decisions to make. Anyone should endorse the US ideas and policies concerning democracy and freedoms, but still remain the issues of how to implement them. Here is another crucial question: does the US really wish to be actively involved in world politics, and at what prices? The current economic crisis does not portend good chances to embark a policy to restore order against pariah states. Perhaps we even face a new reality in which disorder is heralded and under creation.

I do support the interventionist ideology and practice. However, I am afraid, under these circumstances, Iran will evade from that destiny. The Free World must shape a new strategy concerning world order. Can it be achieved and implemented? As old Qato used to say in the Roman Senate: Ceterum senseo Carthago esse delendam. The same applies to Iran: the regime must be toppled down, and it has nothing to do with its nuclear program. The question remains: when will the Free World sober-up and fight for its values and at what price? The late 1930's are a bitter example of its fallacies - have the situations and circumstances been changed?
