Has Guantanamo Prison Made America Safer?

Has Guantanamo Prison Made America Safer?

On May 21, 2009, two American leaders, one a current president, the other a former vice president, stood before the world and gave two radically different answers to the same question: has Quantanamo Bay made America safer? While President Obama insisted that Guantanamo and the interrogations that took place there were the product of fear-mongering, Dick Cheney declared that closing the detention camp would be reckless and place Americans at great risk. Of course we haven't--your administration lied to us!

It's laughable to hear Dick Cheney, the man with a long record of lying through this teeth, of all people titling an argument "The Public Has Not Been Told The Truth". How shocking!

If "safer" to you means watching our own liberties and constitution be trampled in the name of your bogus "war on terrorism ", if "safer" to you means outing covert government agents like Plame when their husbands dare to speak up against your policies, if "safer" to you means putting dissenters and journalists on your terrorist watch list and restricting their rights, then sure--we're much safer!

      You are not serious?

You are not serious are you? Do you have a brain or do you just listen to liberal talking points, digest them as your own and then spout them when you want? Use your brain, read more than blogs on the Huntington Post. What you have written is so far from the truth, I can't believe you are being serious.

        Oh, sweetheart

Good job using your brain, really. Good job, let's see: making false and frankly stupid assumptions, considering I do not watch MSNBC, CNN, FOX, Huffington (ugh), I do not read nor watch pundits. Also great job actually pointing out where anything I've said has been wrong. You don't think warrantless wiretapping is trampling on our liberties? Prove it, use that head of yours, argue it. Don't think Plame was outed by Cheney himself in response to her husband speaking out? Read the news. I know, it's hard to do anything but be fed the news, but you've got to try, right?

Should we watch FOx news instead?

I guess we should all listen to Limbaugh, O'Reilley, and my personal favorite, Ann Coulter. They know the truth. Fox is "unbiased" right? Ha.

    Please

I like Blue Linchpin's quotes on the "war on terrorism ." As if our country was not ACTUALLY attacked on 9/11. As if thousands of innocent civilians weren't robbed of their lives in an instant.

And although I am not refuting her statement, I would certainly like to see where journalists were placed on "our" terrorist watchlist. Again, I like the quotes on "your." Is the flag next to your name incorrect as identifying you as American?

And Illusion, when you point out that Limbaugh and Coulter are not unbiased, that's like pointing out that elephants don't fly. Of course they're biased. That's their job. But I hope you're not going to tell me Chris Matthews is objective in the same breath? To insinuate that only folks on the right are biased but the left is this open free-thinking Utopia is just plain ignorant.
