The Framers Were Inspired and Motivated by Scripture

I close simply by restating that our nation was founded upon Judeo-Christian principles.  The framers and their direct descendants were inspired and motivated by the Scriptures.  Our nation would not be what is without these Christian principles. We are losing our Christian heritage through the reinterpretation and outright omission of our founding documents. Certainly as a nation we may no longer want to follow the Christian principles choosing instead to follow secular humanism as our guiding principle. I believe, however, by so doing we are losing the distinctive worldview upon which we were founded.  Let us do so, however, after an honest an open investigation into the truth of our history.  Only then can we make a wise decision.

If this is a Christina nation doesn;t that pre-suppose that those Americans who are non-Christian are second class citizens? I'm not suggesting that there is anything wrong with being a Christian but that is a private matter, not something for the State to involve itself in. I beleive this is a secular nation, was established as a secular nation and should remain a secular nation. Secular does not mean that we are not a moral. Morality is not the domain of the Christian.

The DOI and Constitution were almost completely stolen from John Locke...

The constitution clearly states that congress cannot establish a national religion AND the Treaty of Tripoli (art. 11) States

"Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion,—as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws , religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen,—and as the said States never entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries."

Which (they like to point to John Adams as a Christian Man) John Adams signed

"Now be it known, That I John Adams, President of the United States of America, having seen and considered the said Treaty do, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate , accept, ratify, and confirm the same, and every clause and article thereof. And to the End that the said Treaty may be observed, and performed with good Faith on the part of the United States, I have ordered the premises to be made public; And I do hereby enjoin and require all persons bearing office civil or military within the United States, and all other citizens or inhabitants thereof, faithfully to observe and fulfill the said Treaty and every clause and article thereof."

Ummm, the christian faith doesn't seem to have any problem with reinterpretation or omission considering the Bible most commonly referred to is known as the King James "version" and from what I understand, "omits" several of the orginal scriptures. I have always had a hard time understanding why, if the bible is god's perfect and holy word, that there would be so many different versions and interpretations on the book store shelves.

The concept that "The United States is a Christian nation" does NOT establish a religion, NOR does it require adherence from all constituents in obedience to the world view upon which this nation was established!

It does, however, assert a logically legitimate argument that in a nation that was founded to operate upon Christian principles, and a God-fearing structure of Society, neglect of these principles, and refusal to give even mental assent to the way in which the mechanism operates,...will prove ultimately detrimental to the continuation of this nation as The United States of America.

Simply put, one does NOT have to be a Christian to see the importance of operating a Christian nation according to the Christian constructs that were used by the overwhelmingly God-fearing majority of the Founders of this nation! :)
