Single Payer Limits Freedom of Choice

Single payer limits freedom of choice – just ask
Canadians living under a single payer system.  Canada must limit the access to common medical
technologies widely available in the U.S.   When compared to other OECD
countries, Canada is 13 th out of 24
in access to MRIs, 18 th of 24 in access to CT scanners, and seventh
of 17 in access to mammograms.

And even though health care is “free”,  Canadians don’t
have access to some of the most innovative drugs available in the U.S.
Indeed, many Canadians come to America to receive care and pay out
of pocket to obtain many drugs.  The problems plaguing Canada’s health care
system—long lines, lack of access to the latest technological equipment, and
dwindling doctor supply—limits choice and freedom.
