Pro-Innovation Tax Cuts

John McCain Will Ban Internet Taxes.

John McCain has been a leader in keeping the Internet free of taxes. As President, he will seek a permanent ban on taxes that threaten this engine of economic growth and prosperity.

John McCain Will Ban New Cell Phone Taxes.

John McCain understands that the same people that would tax e-mail will tax every text message – and even 911 calls. John McCain will prohibit new cellular telephone taxes.

John McCain Will Establish Permanent Tax Credit Equal To 10 Percent Of Wages Spent On R&D.

This reform will simplify the tax code, reward activity in the U.S., and make us more competitive with other countries. A permanent credit will provide an incentive to innovate and remove uncertainty. At a time when our companies need to be more competitive, we need to provide a permanent incentive to innovate, and remove the uncertainty now hanging over businesses as they make R&D investment decisions.

You seem to make it sound as though John McCain is the only one who would like to keep the internet tax-free. This emphasis on the internet seems quite odd to me considering that I believe he has stated that he does not use nor know how to use the internet. If the internet is so important (which I believe it truly is) why then does he not learn to use it. Even for a guy who graduated near the bottom of his class, learning to use the internet should pose no problem. It is certainly easier than running a country and managing world affairs.

What's your point? I don't know how to drive a diesel truck, how to plow a field or how to manufacture an automobile yet I am clever enough to realize those things are important to our economy.

I don't see knowing how to use face book as being relevant to running a country. And I make my living off the internet.

Now that is out of the way, what McCain said is that he needs help getting around the internet because of his war injuries but he has also repeatedly talked about sites he likes and things he has read online. Could he have spent time learning about the internet and learning to use things for the diasabled that would allow him to browse the internet on his own? Sure. Is the ability to wander cyberspace critical to me for being a president? No. Not in the least.
