Should Abortion be Legal?

The landmark Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade was supposed to settle the question of abortion’s legality once and for all, but the Court’s ruling has instead become a fulcrum of debate. Politicians Shouldn’t Interfere in Private Medical Matters

National Abortion Federation

Women should be trusted to make private medical decisions—including the decision to obtain an abortion—in consultation with their health care providers and those they choose to involve. Today, abortion is one of the most common and safest medical procedures, yet it is one of the only procedures subject to medically unwarranted, politically motivated scrutiny and restriction. The outstanding safety record of abortion is, in large part, a testimony to the skill and quality of abortion providers. Abortion restrictions inappropriately interfere with the doctor-patient relationship. The professional judgment, expertise, and experience of these physicians should not be trumped by the personal agendas of politicians.
