Are Autism and Vaccines Linked?

Are Autism and Vaccines Linked?

Over the last decade, autism has gone from a rare and misunderstood condition to a disorder that may affect as many as 1.5 million Americans. Without a clear explanation in sight, parents and doctors have worked tirelessly to pinpoint the cause of autism, but the answer remains elusive. Are vaccines the missing link?

    Add them together

Ok - BUT what about when you add the natural levels in the human body with the build up of the levels in the vaccines? You have the amount that is already there and then adding to it. Is it possible that the amount added to our bodies from these vaccines pushes some bodies over the edge?

    But, What If . . .?

What if the child is predisposed to be hypersensitive to mercury?

I remember playing with mercury as a child and it was fun. I remember rubbing silver dimes and quarters with the mercury and they would really shine when I did. Well, I certainly wasn't sensitive to or intolerant of mercury. But, I'm a little older now and what hair I have left is gray.

I've learned about sensitivities. I intoxicated myself a few years ago with some burning plastic fumes. After that I have become very sensitive to a bunch of things to which I had never reacted before. At the height of my toxic reactions, I could not walk through a supermarket without gagging in the fresh fruits and veggies section and the laundry detergent aisle. Now, is not so bad, but I still react to certain foods and to certain laundry detergents.

I work with children with developmental problems. Of the hundreds I have working with, dozens of parents told me the start of the (whatever their child's developmental problem was) occurred within a few days of a vaccination. So, I believe that the reactions are real, but I don't think that 'thing' the child reacted to is the problem. I think the problem is the process by which these sensitive children react.

I don't think that the 'thing' (in this case mercury) should be the focus of our concern. I suspect that the reactions we have and the process by which we have these reactions should be the direction we look for answers.

    A specious argument at best

From the link referenced as "proof", there is no indication of how these levels were derived, of any potential variation in the human condition which might cause some to have more or less mercury , the form the mercury takes when it is introduced into the body, where exactly in the body the mercury is stored, the timeframe for accumulated exposure or the variation in sensitivity to the toxic effects of mercury.

Most importantly, it is a ludicrous argument to equate 6 grams of total mercury in an adult body with injecting 187 mu of organic mercury into an infant in 4 bolus exposures. Toxic effects are NOT mitigated simply by dividing the total amount of the exposure by the number of days a person was alive prior to the exposure event. Using that same line of reasoning, no one should ever die or be made ill from toxic substances granted they were alive enough days beforehand to average it out to a safe exposure level.
