Should the U.S. Immediately Begin Withdrawal from Iraq?

The reasons for invading Iraq in 2003 have been debated and analyzed in full. But no matter what conclusions you've made, the U.S. is now left with a serious situation that deserves careful attention. We must determine how long -- or even if -- the military stays. Is it time to start bringing troops home or is more time needed to complete our goals?

Leave...If We Want To Help

Code Pink

If we truly want to help Iraq become the beacon of stability and progress in the Middle East that George Bush seems to think it has the potential to be, we must cease military operations there immediately. As long as we have an occupational presence in Iraq, those necessary elements of stability and security--from humanitarian aid to Iraqis taking part in their government--will not flourish. Therefore, the sooner we withdrawal, the sooner these elements will take hold and begin to usher in a secure state for the Iraqi people. As long as our presence holds these elements at bay, we are unconscionably at fault in keeping our troops on the ground, for delaying the rebuilding process. We cannot afford the loss of more brave Americans and innocent Iraqis. We must take the first step in facilitating the rebuilding process and withdrawal immediately.
