Hit the Gym!

Just because you have a genetic tendency to get diabetes does not mean you will get it! And moreover, just because you have diabetes does not mean you are stuck with it! I'm not a doctor and you should never make changes to your regimen without asking your doctor, but I have seen many type 2 diabetics "cure" themselves by making a few lifestyle choices.

Now hear me on this: I'm not suggesting that there is a miracle cure that will suddenly make you totally well all by itself. YOU have to put in effort to make it work. And you will always have that genetic tendency, so if you stop taking care of yourself, it will probably come right back.

You may have gotten a bum gene if you're a type 2 diabetic, but in most cases, part of the responsibility is yours. Not always, but quite often. If you can get your blood sugar under control, that little "tendency" wouldn't have anything to do. It would most likely be a latent tendency that never really did anything.

I hope more type 2 diabetics take this message to heart, because it's an important one. You don't have to suffer if you learn to take good care of yourself. It's not a death sentence. YOU are in control.

The right kind of exercise plus the right diet can essentially CURE type 2 diabetes and greatly improve the control of type 1 diabetes. I'm proof - a type 1 diabetic for 20 years with zero complications and a "non-diabetic" hemoglobin A1c level.
