FRC Condemns Obama's Bailout of International Abortions

In one of his first official acts as President of the United States, President Barack Obama rescinded the "Mexico City Policy." This policy prohibits taxpayer funds from going to foreign non-governmental organizations that use other funds to promote and perform abortions. Under the Mexico City Policy, funding for family planning is not reduced by one penny but recipient agencies must decide whether or not to engage in abortion promotion or provision. A policy against promoting abortion is only "anti-family planning" if one assumes that abortion itself is a method of "family planning."

Tony Perkins, President of Family Research Council, had this to say:

"Yesterday, President Obama issued executive orders banning the torture of terrorists but today signed an order that exports the torture of unborn children around the world. At a debate last year at Rick Warren's Saddleback Church, then-candidate Barack Obama vowed to find 'common ground' on the issue of abortion and that he, as President, would work to 'reduce the number of abortions.' His action today flies in the face of that vow and probably sets a record as the most quickly broken campaign promise ever leaving the question, how many more broken promises to families lie ahead?
"Both sides of the abortion debate, from Planned Parenthood to Family Research Council, agree on a simple economic point: when you subsidize abortion, abortions will increase. Thanks to his actions today, U.S. taxpayers will be forced to take part in exporting a culture of death. We have a responsibility to respect the policies and traditions of the other countries, which have laws recognizing the right to life of the unborn, and it is an insult to fund organizations that are intent on overturning those laws by promoting an elite ideology of abortion on demand.

"One of President Obama's first acts is to rescind this vital government policy and reward pro-abortion groups. This should serve as a bitter pill for those who campaigned for him, all the while proclaiming their belief in the cause of life and family."

To say that abortion is torture for unborn children is absoilutely idiotic. The vast majority of abortions are so early in a pregnancy that the fetus cannot even feel pain. What is truly torture is forcing helpless poor women to die from botched illegal abortions and forcing children to be born into lives of abject poverty, hunger and disease.
The Bush adninistration's familu planning policies were totally hypocritical and catastrophically counterproductive.

The name "Family Research Counsel" is an oxymoron. They don't do research; they preach lies.

This is a Fundamentalist Christian front group. The core principle of Fundamentalism is that every word of the Bible is literally true and without error. The core principle of Fundamentalism is fraud. If you attempted to sell a product as clearly defective as that, in any business but art or religion , you would go to prison.

Once you have a group of people who have committed the faith of their lives to a lie, you can get them to go to bat for any damned-fool proposition. For 25 years these deceivers have distorted and distracted Americans from the proper business of government, which is business. The Family Research Council loved George W. Bush, who arrogantly believed that he had the God-given right to torture people after they were born but that no one should have the right to abort a fetus, because of his primitive religion. That sad, era, of ignorance and arrogance, is over.

Now they attempt to undermine the Obama administration that promises science -based public policy, which should be an opportunity for a "research" shop, except, of course, that they have no research only lies, distorted by ideology. FRC offers nothing that can stand up to critical examination, which is no problem for true-believers but doesn't fly well outside their cult. America has listened to these pied-pipers for far too long; where they led our country is the wrong direction. They have divided us over personal choices that are not the government's business to decide, while they empowered a corrupt administration that stole our children 's future and entangled us in unnecessary wars. Up to 1,000,000 utterly innocent Iraqi civilians died in George Bush's war . Go tell them that you are pro-life .

Who cares what the Family "Research" Council says? Let them be a big influence in the administration of Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin, which exists on the same plane as their pathetic religious fantasies. I don't know what the key to the Kingdom of God is, but I'll bet you 50 cents it's not a lie.

Sensationlist tripe with no grounding in reality whatsoever. "Family Research Council" indeed. Humans have lives for thousands of years in families and communities unaided and yet we see this body claiming to know and represent what family values are. What a joke!
