Should Children Take Statins?

Should Children Take Statins?

Millions of Americans use statins to lower their cholesterol, but now the American Academy of Pediatrics has suggested that children as young as 8 should be put on the drugs if they’re at risk for heart disease. While some insist that this can promote long-term health, others warn of serious potential dangers. Can statins save your child’s life, or should kids stick to Flintstones vitamins?

    Irrelevant

All you seem to be saying here is that there are other components to health besides cholesterol level. Fine, but so what? Surely no one is arguing that children should be barred from exercising or eating healthy foods, and only given statins.

Are you perhaps trying to argue that healthy diet and exercise WITHOUT cholesterol-lowering drugs is always a better formula than healthy diet and exercise WITH the drugs? If so, you should have actually made that point, instead of merely using the word "healthy" five times in three sentences and calling it a day.
