Encourage Legal Immigration

Libertarian National Committee

The Libertarian Party believes that it is neither prudent nor economically feasible to deport all people in this country who are here illegally.  Instead, we should work to eliminate the financial incentives that encourage illegal immigration, such as ending federal requirements that mandate benefits and services be provided to those in the country illegally.  Removing the financial incentive to immigrate illegally into the United States by eliminating the welfare state will stop U.S. taxpayers from subsidizing illegal immigration.  Recognizing the economic benefit to all Americans that migrant labor produces, undocumented workers that can prove that they pose no threat to public health or national security should be given the opportunity to go through the immigration process and legally participate in society.  Those here illegally that are a proven threat to the interests of the United States should be expelled from this country.
