Deportation-Only Isn’t Working
Despite
the record number of deportations and the massive raids and round-ups, we are
not making a dent in the population of undocumented immigrants. If anything, it is driving them further
underground and off the books, neither of which are desirable. Even if we wanted to get rid of 12 million
people in the country illegally – an estimated 1 in 20 U.S. workers –
it isn’t going to happen. Those who say
we can make America
so undesirable that people leave or don’t come in the first place are saying
they are willing to tolerate years, perhaps decades, of a substantial
population of undocumented immigrants.
I’m not. I want people in the
system so that we know who is here, they have rights, and are playing by the
same set of rules as citizens.

Citizenship can not be on the table for Illegal Immigrants. First they have broken our laws. Second there are those who have stood line and followed the laws that they need to step behind.
Give them a workers permit that will allow them to work and live in the United States. They should have a period of time to ask for the work permit or face going to jail. If they lose the job they have they would have to find another one within a period of time say 60 days or their work permit.
There shouldn't be any advantage or disadvantage given to them if they want to apply for citizenship.
Finally laws need to be written so that babies born to undocumented immigrants do not receive citizenship.
Since people using workers permits would be subject to special local, state, and federal taxes, it seems reasonable that they should be able to send their kids to school, and take advantage of other public facilities.
No Auto-Citizenship.
There are no laws written that allow citizenship for illegal immigrants children , none ! Thats why I don't understand why we are giving citizenship. Illegal immigrants don't live in the community they work in typically. Thats my current problem, Wealthy communities typically don't provide low income housing , they take advantage of the cheap labor from 8:00 a.m. to 5;00 p.m.and then the surrounding communities have to obsorb the cost .
