Should Faith Matter When Electing Politicians?

John F. Kennedy once said, “I do not speak for my Church on public matters — and the Church does not speak for me.” That may have been true for JFK in 1960, but in recent years religion has played an increasingly larger role in American politics. With the line between private and public faith becoming increasingly blurred, how much should religion matter when electing those politicians who so directly affect our lives?

Constitution First, Bible Second

American Atheists

It’s time for America to start calling stupid “stupid”. If you actually believe in magic, think the invisible man in the sky is going to protect us and/or Rapture is going to befall the Earth any day, you’re simply not smart enough to be the most powerful man in the world. I know my words are coarse, but they must be said.

The following questions MUST be answered by every candidate:
1) Do you hold a higher loyalty to your religion/god over your country?
2) Do you believe a higher power wants you personally to be elected?
3) Do you believe a higher power will fix problems you create?
4) Do you believe the Rapture is imminent (if so, then why should we worry about the environment or our national debt)?
5) Do you believe in magic, psychics, or astrology?

If the candidate says YES to any of these questions, s/he is not fit to be elected. We need our politicians to be firmly based in reality. This does not mean we should only elect Atheists, but we must elect those who place the Constitution FIRST, and their Bible second.
