Is Raw Food Good For You?

For some people cutting down on their daily intake of Oreos and bacon is daunting, so the thought of living on raw vegetables might seem completely outrageous. Still, a growing number of people have devoted their lives to eating uncooked veggies, nuts and beans, insisting that the health benefits of a raw diet are unmatched. Is it time to turn down the heat or is this just another food fad?

To obtain the most benefit from the diet I recommend people include a combination of both raw and cooked foods. More importantly we need to shift our meal patterns twoards those built around plant foods, as opposed to animal foods which can be high in saturated fat and cholesterol (for the non-vegans or non-vegetarians some l ow fat dairy products and small portions of lean meats and eggs can also be part of a healthful diet). In general at least 2/3 to 3/4 of our plate should be from plant foods with a mix of raw and cooked.
