Be Smart About Seafood

Avoiding mercury and PCBs (p olychlorinated biphenyls) in seafood is an important issue for all expecting parents. While fish offer healthy Omega-3s, they can also have high levels of contaminants. Mercury in fish can damage a baby’s immune system and kidneys, and may interfere with normal brain development.

Become informed about seafood safety and contamination and choose wisely, for health and for sustainability. Download Co-Op America ’s Safe Seafood Wallet List as a handy guide (see links for details).
