The clash between gay activists and proponents of traditional society seem to grow more heated with every headline. While those in the gay and lesbian community insist that their way of life is perfectly natural and entitles them to equal rights, there are others who contend that the homosexual lifestyle is merely a choice that can be overcome, or even cured. Is same-sex interest a learned trait, or is it all in the genetic makeup?
The boy in your kindergarten class who caught your eye in a real and memorable way. The girl at the sixth grade sleepover who caused previously unknown inner stirrings. The junior high spin the bottle game in which you wished so desperately that the bottle would allow you to explore your growing same-sex desires. The high school opposite-sex experimentation that made you feel like you were kissing a cold fish.
If you talk to LGB people, you will learn that most all of us had early realizations of our inner truths. Many of us had as few questions about our sexual orientations as our hetero counterparts, it's just that we had to grow up in a world that demanded answers from us!
