Al-Qaeda Triumphant
Osama bin Laden would trumpet an abrupt U.S. withdrawal as a victory for al-Qaeda and proof that America is a “paper tiger,” just as he claimed after the U.S. withdrawal from Somalia in 1994. This would a particularly ironic outcome since the “foreign fighter” threat in Iraq has been largely defeated.

Yes he would, and it's because he wants to trick us into staying just like he tricked us into invading. There was no al-qaeda in Iraq before we invaded, and now we've created a recruiting ground for them.
Let's not forget that many of these same extremists helped bring down the soviet empire by drawing them into a long protracted occupation of afghanistan which lead to their governments bankruptcy. They want to do the same to us, and we've been dumb enough to oblige.
You are absolutely right, Bin Laden would "trumpet" withdrawal, but only because he wants to trick us into staying.
