A Vote for Educational Change
By Dennis Van Roekel, a 23-year teaching veteran and longtime
activist and advocate for children and public education, Van Roekel is president
of the 3.2 million-member National Education Association. As NEA
President, he leads the nation's largest labor union and advocate for
quality public schools.
On November 4, voters went to the polls for change—our nation faces a lagging economy; access to health care still eludes 50 million Americans; and the war in Iraq drags on.
The 3.2 million members of NEA and their family members were concerned about all of these issues. And after observing the consequences of the so-called No Child Left Behind law for seven years, these voters had an extra motivation to make a difference by electing friends of public education at every level.
President-elect Barack Obama wants to fix No Child Left Behind – starting with the over-emphasis on high stakes testing. With a new president and a new Congress, we can begin to make the law workable and effective for students and educators.

This organization does not put the needs of the children first and Im shocked that they would insinuate that Obama, of all people, would either. And here is why I feel that way;
1. I read the book, THE HOMOSEXUAL AGENDA, by Sears and Osten, two lawyers, and what I learned about the NEA scared the begeebies out of me.I recommend you read this book if you think anything this President says implys his greatest concern is for the welfare of American children.
2. This is what the NEA has given us to date, shear horror: http://www.massresistance.org/docs/info/kbase/horror_stories.html
And here is a statement from them of what they plan to do:
The Association believes in efforts that provide for:
a. Development of curriculum and instructional materials and programs designed to meet the needs of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender students
b. Involvement of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender educators in developing educational materials used in classroom instruction
c. Dissemination of programs that support gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and questioning students and address the high drop-out rate, suicide rate, and health risk behaviors
d. Recognition of the importance of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender education employees as role models
e. Accurate portrayal of the roles and contributions of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people throughout history
f. Dissemination of programs and information that include the contributions, heritage, culture, and history of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people
g. Coordination with gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender organizations and concerned agencies that promote the contributions, heritage, culture, history, health and care of gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender people. Entire article at
